Autumn / Harvest
Leaves Sensory Bin
Recycled baby food pouch lids, Dollar Tree leaves (2 packs), shovel and transfer bucket (lids may prevent a choking hazard for small children – use with caution).
File Folder Game – Pre-Math Skill
Leaf and Ladybug Size Sort – File Folder Game from TeachersPayTeachers
Apple Hunt – Gross Motor Activity
I hid a bunch of these felt apples (from our Apple Color Sorting Game) around the house and had my toddler search for them. You can use real apples, photographs of apples, or other fun ideas for a ‘hunt and harvest’ activity to get your child(ren) moving!
Popcorn Shaker – Music and Movement
Easy DIY for toddlers and preschoolers. Mini water bottle (make sure it’s completely dry if you plan on keeping it for awhile to prevent mold), some un-popped corn kernels and some pipe cleaner trimmings or other colorful additions. Hot glue the cap on to help prevent choking hazard and add a bit of decorative ribbon. Shake away!
Leaf Rake – Gross Motor Activity
Use the same Dollar Tree leaves from your sensory bin for this activity – or you might deconstruct a felt garland or faux plant.
Add a small rake (ours is from a sand/beach bucket). Scatter the leaves and rake them into a pile (or two or three – can you separate them by color?).
Autumn Gross Motor Activity
This is the best activity for the 2-4 set! Get up and move your bodies, and have some laughs while you’re at it! Printable cards available here for $1 or make your own!
