For this game we grabbed a six pack of felt rainbow shapes – perfect for creating this easy DIY spelling recognition craft!
- On the right-hand clouds I wrote each of the colors of the rainbow in black 3-D fabric paint. (I got mine in a large pack using a JoAnn’s 50% off coupon – here’s the same set on Amazon)
- On the left side I copied the color in the actual hue.
- After drying, I did a quick “x” stitch to secure a hand-cut white felt heart over the color.
This gives an easy control of error while also letting the child familiarize themselves with the written words: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
For $1 plus material I had on hand, this was a quick and cute homemade material for Rainbow Week. Though my tot can’t read yet, he enjoyed playing with them!
Rainbow “Rain Bottle”
Shredded paper, cotton balls, mini erasers from the Target Dollar Spot and some tiny metal beads to make a pleasant sounding rain bottle.
I created this and glued the cap on for my toddler to explore – for older kids you might set out some materials and have them build their own!
